From 800,000 to 8 Million in Six Years

Written by uaejobs on Apr 6th, 2008 | Filed under: Dubai Living

Football star David Beckham displayed his generosity by gifting his wife Victoria’s parents an 8 million-pound Dubai mansion.

The mansion, described as a waterfront villa, is set on an exclusive palm-shaped artificial island, and his in-laws Tony and Jackie Adams are said to have been very delighted with it.

Beckham bought the property in 2002 for 800,000 pounds. But since then its value has rocketed as Dubai has taken off as a holiday destination.

The mansion is still under his and Poshs name, but they have asked 61-year-old Tony and 59-year-old Jackie to decorate the house according to their liking and to spend as much time as they want in it.

“David realised he was not going to be able to spend any time in Dubai, News of the World quoted a source as saying.

“He’s got his commitments in Los Angeles and it’s a long trip, especially when he still has to spend a lot of time in London.

“So he discussed it with Victoria and decided that the Dubai place would be a really special present for her parents. They’ve done so much for the family already and are involved in all of David and Victoria’s ventures anyway.

“He trusts them completely and knows the property will be in very safe hands. He still retains legal ownership, but on a day-to-day basis it’s to become their place.

“He’s a practical guy and thinks there’s no reason to have an amazing house sitting empty.

“David and Victoria have told them they might visit once or twice a year for some family time, although at the moment that seems quite unlikely because they’re so busy,” the source added.

Gifting the house to Victorias parents could be viewed as a snub to his divorced parents, Ted and Sandra, who have never had a steady relationship with the two.

However a source close to the Beckhams has revealed otherwise.

“All of David’s family will be allowed access to the house if they want it. They’d just have to sort out a time with Tony and Jackie, an insider said.

“David is a family man. He loves his parents and he’d never want to cut them out,” the insider added. (ANI)

The 6th crossing at Dubai Creek, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

FXFOWLE INTERNATIONAL wins major architectural design competition

FXFOWLE INTERNATIONAL’s proposal for the architectural design of a 1.7km and 205m bridge in Dubai was selected by the country’s Roads & Transport Authority in a major international design competition. The firm’s winning bridge design further advances the infrastructure and transportation initiatives in Dubai. FXFOWLE’s design makes the 6th Crossing the largest and tallest spanning arch bridge in the world. Sudhir Jambhekar, Senior Partner, FXFOWLE INTERNATIONAL stated, “The bridge’s design was inspired by multiple sources, each evoking similar imagery – the rhythmic grace of Dubai Creek’s current, the elegant splendor of the sand dunes adjacent to the City, the lighting patterns of the lunar cycle and the design of the future Opera House. We believe that our bridge design is not merely to link the City’s cultural and commercial developments or ease congestion, but an opportunity to connect people both physically and emotionally by creating an iconic landmark, destination, and gateway between the old, the new and the future Dubai.”
