Salary Calculations — FAQs
›How is overtime calculated in the UAE?
Overtime is paid at your basic hourly rate plus 25% for daytime overtime, rising to plus 50% for hours worked between 10pm and 4am. The hourly rate is derived from your basic salary. Overtime is normally capped at two hours per day.
›Is there income tax on salaries in the UAE?
No. The UAE has no personal income tax, so your gross salary is your take-home pay. The corporate tax introduced in 2023 applies to business profits, not employee salaries.
›How do I calculate my daily wage in the UAE?
For most labour-law purposes (like gratuity), your daily wage is your basic monthly salary divided by 30 — regardless of the actual number of days in the month.
