Enter your basic salary and service period to see your gratuity.

How this calculator works

The calculation follows Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (the UAE Labour Law). Your daily wage is your basic monthly salary divided by 30. You then earn 21 days of that daily wage per year for the first five years of service, and 30 days per year beyond five years. The law caps total gratuity at two years' salary, and you qualify once you complete one full year of continuous service.

Gratuity — FAQs

How is gratuity calculated in the UAE?

Under UAE Labour Law, you earn 21 days of basic salary for each of your first five years of service, and 30 days of basic salary for each year after that. The calculation uses your final basic salary (excluding allowances), and the total cannot exceed two years' pay. You must complete at least one year of continuous service to qualify.

Is gratuity calculated on basic salary or gross salary?

Basic salary only. Housing, transport and other allowances are excluded from the gratuity calculation — which is why employers often split packages into basic salary plus allowances. Check your contract to see your basic salary figure.

Do I get gratuity if I resign?

Yes. Under the current UAE Labour Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021), employees who resign after completing one year of service are entitled to their full accrued gratuity — the old reduced-gratuity rules for resignation no longer apply.

Does unpaid leave affect my gratuity?

Days of unpaid leave are excluded from the service period used to calculate gratuity, so extended unpaid absence will slightly reduce the final amount.
